With recent local government budget cuts, home help and assistance for the most vulnerable of society, many more people are starting to use private business to help with their daily needs.
The elderly, people with mobility problems, those recently out of hospital and people with special needs are finding local help is an essential part of getting through the week.
It is not a reflection on family or friends that local business is called upon to assist the needy but more a reflection on how government resources have been redirected away from general care to a more targeted approach.
Time For You Domestic Cleaning have, for a couple of years, been helping their clients in more ways that just dusting and hoovering.
Many of our elderly clients, apart from having their homes cleaned, really appreciate having company for a couple of hours. Just being able to talk to somebody is often a greater release than the dressing table being polished. Many of the elderly clients have an arrangement whereby some shopping may be done as part of their weekly clean or in some cases, a little food being prepared or supplied.
Having a cleaner around the home is more than just the ‘obvious’.

One of the main problems that most people face when deciding to have a cleaner is the prospect of interviewing, reference checking and initially trying out the new cleaner. If you are very lucky and find the right person ‘off the bat’, you still have the issue of building trust.
However, you invariably find that out of three cleaners you interview, one may be ok. You give them a try and they are not to your liking. You then have to go through all of the process again until you come to the conclusion that you are better off doing it yourself.
This ‘self-defeating’ and demoralising process takes you back to square one and you end up losing your evenings and weekends all over again.
This is where we come in to our own. At Time For You Domestic Cleaning, we do the advertising for cleaners, we interview them, we reference check them and we then place them with a suitable client.
If the cleaner is not up to standard or is unreliable, you just give us a call and we do the replacement work for you.
Yes, this can be a minor irritation for the client but isn’t it better that somebody is doing this for you rather than having to do it yourself?
It may come as no surprise that any Domestic Cleaning Business has a relatively high turn-over of cleaners because we and the clients want nothing more than for a cleaner to turn up on time, do a good job and not promise more than they can deliver.
On average, we find one decent cleaner (in terms of ability and reliability) per every 10 that we interview and try out. This is a not a good ratio as far as we are concerned but does highlight that if we have to go through this many applicants per advertisement, what must a client go through who is trying to sort out a cleaner for themselves.
When we get a client who asks why they should pay us a business fee on top of the cleaner rate, in many cases this indicates that they probably haven’t had a cleaner before and therefore do not realise the amount of work that goes into finding cleaners and managing replacements over time. Not to mention that many private cleaners do not carry insurance or have a business that needs to be nurtured in order to maintain and enhance standards.
Time For You Domestic Cleaning are not immune from having people let us down, like any business in any other sector, but we strive to resolve any issue or problem for the benefit of our clients and, when working together, we always find satisfactory solution.

Q. Can I specify a day / date that is suitable?
A. Yes, based on cleaner availability.
Q. How many hours will the cleaner be available?
A. The cleaner will provide up to 6 hours cleaning.
Q. Do you provide insurance?
A. Yes, We provide £2 million Public Liability insurance which covers you for any damage that the cleaner causes to property or persons whilst cleaning within your home. £100 excess applies. Cover for bleach damage is excluded.
Q. What work will be undertaken?
A. Any work that is agreed with the cleaner as long as the work is safe and practical.
Q. What if the cleaner has not finished?
A. You may book the cleaner again if required. Please bear in mind that the cleaner is only human and there are only so many hours that they can work. Each house is different in terms of size, the level of cleaning required and the grade of difficulty. Therefore each client is requested to be realistic as to what can be achieved in relation to time and the property’s individual style.
Q. Do you provide the products?
A. The client provides all of the products and equipment (hoover, mop, etc). This keeps the cost lower for the client as you will not be paying a mark-up on products provided by us and this also prevents the spread of bacteria between homes.
Q. My house is empty, therefore I do not have any products or equipment available.
A. The fee will be £79.00 if the cleaner has to provide products. You will also not be covered on our insurance if the cleaner has to provide their own products/equipment.
Q. After my spring clean, can I have a regular weekly clean to maintain the cleanliness of my home?
A. Yes, we can arrange for a regular weekly clean with your own dedicated cleaner. If you sign up for a regular weekly clean within 2 weeks of the spring clean, we will discount your first Business Fee payment by £15.00.

Use Vinegar as an All Purpose Cleaning Fluid

Cleaning Tip from Time For You Domestic Cleaning
1/ All you need to do is fill a recycled spray bottle with 2 parts water to 1 part distilled white vinegar and mix with a couple of drops of standard washing-up liquid.
You will then be in possession of a very effective cleaning solution.
This solution will be suitable for plastic laminate surfaces, stainless steel such as sinks and glassware.
2/ If you have a requirement for cleaning stains or spots from painted surfaces such as walls, the following mix may be suitable for you.
Fill your spray bottle with 1/2 cup of white distilled vinegar, 1 cup of ammonia and 1/4 cup of baking soda all mixed into 1 gallon of water. Spray mix onto the required area and wipe off with a clean towel. This mix should help move those stubborn stains.
